How to get an ISSA certification

Enroll & Train

Choose the right ISSA course for your experience level and complete the required training in Good Captain sailing academy - both theory and hands-on sailing practice—under the guidance of certified instructors.

Pass the Assessment

Demonstrate your skills through practical evaluation and theory checks. Your instructor will guide you through everything you need to know.

Submit Your Documents

Provide a copy of your ID, course completion form, and any additional documents (depending on the certification level) to the Good Captain administrative team.

Receive Your ISSA Certificate

Once your training is verified, you’ll be issued an official ISSA certificate - recognized by charter companies and sailing institutions worldwide.

Our Inshore Skipper Course is built for those ready to lead on the water. Whether you’re starting fresh or building on basic knowledge, this course equips you with the practical skills, seamanship, and decision-making needed to confidently command a yacht in coastal conditions.

Yacht Crew Course

Designed for beginners, this hands-on course covers essential sailing theory, safety procedures, navigation basics, and teamwork onboard. You’ll gain the knowledge and practical skills to become a competent crew member, ready to assist on coastal cruising adventures. No prior experience is required — just a love for the sea and a willingness to learn.

ONLINE

Marine VHF Radio Operator

Learn how to handle routine and emergency communications, including distress calls, weather updates, and port coordination. Upon successful completion, you’ll receive the GMDSS Short Range Certificate (SRC) — a lifetime license recognized internationally and required by most charter companies.
