Common Questions from Future Skippers

Why should I choose Good Captain Sailing School?

At Good Captain, our mission is to provide high-quality training in sailing and seamanship, combining expert instruction with a welcoming atmosphere.

We offer one of the highest standards of sailing education on the Black Sea, right here in Varna—one of Bulgaria’s most beautiful cities for holidays and weekend getaways.

We’re among the few sailing schools in the region that provide advanced courses and issue international skipper certificates (ISSA & BMA).

And the best part? Our prices are incredibly affordable compared to similar programs in other countries.

At every level, you’ll be taught by instructors who are not only expert sailors, but also skilled teachers, known for their positive attitude and responsibility.

The practical, on-water training can be completed in just one week.

The Good Captain Skipper Course is flexible and performance-based — meaning you progress at your own pace. Once you and your instructor agree that you’ve mastered a skill, you move on. If you need extra time or want more practice, that’s perfectly fine too.

Our goal is to help you become a safe, confident sailor who feels fully prepared to cruise on your own.
