About Good Captain Sailing Academy
More Than a Courses — It’s a Lifestyle.
About us
From First Lesson to Open Water — We’ve Got You.
Good Captain Sailing Academy was founded with a clear mission: to make sailing education more accessible, enjoyable, and inspiring. What began as a personal quest by Max and Anastasia to find meaningful sailing training quickly evolved into something bigger — a school built on passion, purpose, and a belief that anyone can learn to sail with the right guidance.
Frustrated by outdated methods and uninspiring instructors, they set out to create a different kind of sailing school — one rooted in international standards, practical training, and a warm, student-first approach. Today, Good Captain is a recognized name on the Black Sea, offering professional certifications through ISSA, NauticEd, and the Bulgarian Maritime Administration (ICC 40GT).

How We Built a Sailing School from Scratch
Life-changing decision
The foundation of our school was born from a market gap: traditional sailing education lacked approachability, inspiration, and student focus. By identifying what was missing, we positioned ourselves not just as an alternative — but as a better standard. This clear purpose continues to drive our differentiation in a competitive market.
Reputation building
Through personalized instruction, international certification options, and a transparent student-first culture, we rapidly built trust. Word-of-mouth referrals, returning clients, and positive online reviews became key drivers of organic growth — solidifying our brand credibility in both local and global sailing communities.
The yacht delivery
Our investment in owning and transporting our first training yacht enabled full control over the learning environment. This hands-on asset not only improved student experience but gave us operational independence — reducing reliance on external providers and increasing long-term profitability.
The Legacy
What began as a vision is now a recognized brand associated with high standards and global accessibility. Our alumni network, strategic accreditations (ISSA, NauticEd, BMA), and consistent quality delivery contribute to long-term brand equity and future expansion potential.
